Location: Flexible, with a preference for residents near North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Our cutting-edge technology leverages extensive, patient-centric data to generate expansive datasets crucial for training advanced AI systems. These systems are pivotal in discovering new disease correlations, dramatically improving patient outcomes, and continually pushing medical technology boundaries.

 

The Role: Join us as a Co-Founder & Head of Engineering, where you will lead the development and scaling of our core technology. You will be responsible for building robust AI-driven systems and establishing the technical foundation of the company.

This role offers a clear path to Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) post-Series A, where you will shape long-term technology strategy and scale the engineering organization.

Your Path to Impact

Short Term (Head of Engineering):

  • Design and implement scalable AI/ML systems and data infrastructure
  • Lead the development of production-ready software from concept to deployment
  • Establish engineering best practices (architecture, CI/CD, quality standards)
  • Translate product and clinical requirements into robust technical solutions

Long Term (CTO Development):

  • Define and drive the long-term technology vision and roadmap
  • Scale and lead the engineering organization, including hiring and team structure
  • Oversee development of advanced AI systems and platform capabilities
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and data regulations
  • Represent Medirion in technical discussions with investors and partners

What You bring to the Team

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, data science, AI, or a related field
  • Strong experience in building AI/ML systems and data-driven applications (5+ years)
  • Experience in computer vision, particularly in processing and analyzing medical or imaging data (2+ years)
  • Proficiency in software engineering, system architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with scalable system design and full development lifecycle
  • Valid work permit in Germany (preferably unlimited)

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, SNOMED, ICD, etc.)
  • Experience with MLOps, model deployment, and large-scale data processing
  • Exposure to regulatory environments (e.g. GDPR, MDR)
  • Leadership experience or strong ambition to grow into a leadership role (5+ years)
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and startup environments
